The symbol of a wink and a smile used throughout the Taste in Wine book to
highlight a cheeky statement or joke.

Wine wheel

A visual aid for finding aromas and flavours in wine. Also
called aroma wheels or flavour wheels.

Volatile acids

A group of acids, mostly acetic acid (vinegar), which can
build up in wine when it is exposed to oxygen. The VAs, though not necessarily
harmful, are associated with spoilage.

Vitis vinifera

The species of grape vine that is most commonly used for
wine production.

Viticulturist

A person involved in grape growing.

Viticulture

Cultivating grape vines, possibly for, but not limited to, wine
production.

Viscous

A liquid with high viscosity. Slow pouring, syrupy.

Viscosity

How thick a liquid is or how slowly it pours.

Vintner

A person engaged in the making of wine.

Vintage

The year in which the grapes were grown.

Vinification

The process of making wine.

Viniculturist

A person involved in wine grape growing.
